Sad Note: Geoffrey "Mr. Funshine" Thompson, the supremo of Blackpool Pleasure Beach died on Saturday.

"Mr Thompson, who received the OBE in 1998 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to tourism, is survived by his 101-year-old mother Mrs Doris Thompson, who is the company chairman, his wife Barbara, and his three children Amanda, Fiona and Nick."
