Abid Hussan of Islamic Leisure is quoted in the Sun as saying "We’re trying to integrate Muslims into the wider community. People can come down and see the way we live. It will be a peaceful family environment." And what better way to promote integration than by renting an amusement park for the day, banning music, banning gambling, banning alcohol, serving only Halal (Islam-approved) food, and selling tickets exclusively to Muslims.

12-Year-Old Dies After Riding Disney Roller Coaster

ORLANDO, Fla., June 29 — A 12-year-old boy from Tennessee died today after riding a roller coaster at Walt Disney World here. Disney has shut down the roller coaster pending an investigation.

The boy, Michael Russell of Fort Campbell, Tenn., suddenly went limp after riding and exiting the Rock 'n' Roller coaster with his family, said Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons.

Michael's father started cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and employees at the Disney MGM theme park called for emergency help. About 11:30 a.m., the boy was taken by ambulance to the nearby Celebration Hospital, where he died.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is conducting a "routine death investigation", said a sheriff's spokesman, Jim Solomons. "There is nothing to suggest foul play," he said.

Michael was visiting the theme park with his mother, his father and his 7-year-old brother, whose names were not released, as part of a family vacation.

"We offer the family our deepest sympathies," Walt Disney World said in a written statement. "A company representative is with them providing assistance."

Disney closed the ride pending an investigation, but the company's initial review of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, which reaches a top speed of 57 miles an hour and plays an Aerosmith soundtrack, "shows the ride was operating normally."

Florida's Bureau of Fair Ride Safety, sent an inspector to review the ride, along with Disney officials today. But the state is not taking action against Disney. The large theme parks are exempt from the bureau's regulations.

I've bitched about that loophole before...

"We are very concerned about fair ride safety," said Terence McElroy, spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service. He added, "We are satisfied that Disney, through its professionalism of inspections, is fairly capable of doing everything in its power of assuring the safety of its park and its patrons."

I am fairly capable of doing everything in my power to keep from crying about this.

The last person to die at a Disney attraction was 49-year-old Hiltrud Blumel from Germany, who died in April after riding Epcot's Mission: Space simulator ride.

They should put that up on their sign: "Welcome to Walt Disney World! 78 Days Without a Fatality!"
